Goodbye July

July was fun while it lasted!

Hello August. I am looking forward to August and running again. Last Tuesday was my last run...and it feels like it's been forever! I decided to take 2 weeks off from running to rest my shins. I've been doing cross training in the meantime. I am still going to my spin classes during the week and doing the elliptical on the other days. My next run will be this Saturday. I'm going to do my scheduled long run of 12 miles. My coach (a.k.a. my husband) keeps reminding me that I will not lose fitness even though I haven't run for almost 2 weeks, as long as I'm cross training. I'm hoping he's right and that I'll feel strong on my next long run.

We did a lot this weekend with the boys. Yesterday we went to Great Falls. It was a beautiful day. The boys had lots of fun. They met some friends and played ball for awhile.

Saturday we went to Kings Dominion. The boys had a blast getting on the rides and going to the wave pool. Right before we left Mike made sure they both won some bigged stuffed animals...you can't leave the park without getting those.

Yesterday the boys went to their friends birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. They did not want to leave.

I will be ending my "rest" today! Can't wait to hear how your first run goes....I"m actually nervous even though it's only been 2 weeks. Good luck!

Heather,

Great looking family!

Send me an email so I can provide the Road ID ecard you've won. Again, congrats!

Your husband is right about not losing too much fitness in 2 weeks of no running. I always run my best or perform the best at races following a rest period.

I had to take some time off from running for awhile, but was able to get right back into it (I kept spinning and kickboxing in the mean time!) As long as your cross training, you should be good:)

Hi Heather! I think you are smart to rest those shins and I'm sure you will keep your cardio fitness doing cross-training so no worries about that :o) Your family is beautiful! You guys did so much fun stuff this weekend...I love Great Falls park!!
