Overwhelmed but Happy

What's been happening so far this month:
I have so much going on it's hard to keep it all straight...I'm constantly making lists in an effort to remember everything that I need to get done. September and October have been busy months with school starting, middle son's birthday in September and older son's birthday on Monday. We decided to celebrate Charlie's birthday on Saturday at the local ice skating rink.

I am really glad that fall is here. I love the smell of the leaves and seeing all the different colors on the trees. I love wearing hoodies and jeans. I am looking forward to trick or treating with the kids this year. I'm curious how it's all going to go considering that my husband is running the Marine Corps Marathon on Halloween....doubt that he will feel like walking around with the kids all night!!

What I'd like to do in the next few months:
Now that I feel good running again and my leg no longer hurts I want to sign up for some races. I really like having a goal and training for something specific. I definitely want to run the local Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning, which is a 10k...that way I won't feel so bad for eating so much turkey and stuffing! I'd also like to run a half marathon in the spring. The first one that I was thinking about doing is a new one for this area. It's called the Virginia Wine Country Half Marathon and it's on June 4th. The other one that I'd be intersted in is the Marine Corps Historic Half on May 15th. I still have some time to decide which one I'd like to do or maybe I'll decide to do both!

skating! knives on feet - a great Canadian past-time - just give him a stick and teach him to body check and it will be complete

Isn't Fall the greatest? And it's great fun with a houseful of boys!

I saved your blog address with a note about Once a Month Cooking...are you still doing that? I'd love to post something about that concept on my blog.
