Last Saturday I had my last long run until the North Face Endurance Challenge Half Marathon this coming weekend. I decided to treat myself and drive a little bit further than I normally do to a wonderful place called Burke Lake. The 4.5 mile trail goes around the lake and is mostly in the shade. After leaving the house I realized I didn't have my watch, I didn't mind though because I knew I'd enjoy the trail so much that it wouldn't matter. It was a perfect morning. I loved the smell of honeysuckles and feeling the gentle breeze. I was glad I forgot my watch and it was just the trees and me.

This looks like a wonderful run. Good luck this weekend.
beautiful!
I love the training grounds!!
GOOD LUCK!!!!
I stumbled across this post after returning from a run at Burke Lake myself. I notice in another post you mentioned wanting to do more trail runs. If you're not already familiar with EX2 Adventures, you should check them out (www.ex2adventures.com). They host over a dozen trail running events in NoVA/MD each year. Really great group of people and fun, challenging 5 or 10 mile runs.
The next series of five races starts on October 16: Fall Backyard Burn
