Three ThingsThursday

1. I will be running the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run this weekend and I am excited!! I ran this one other time back in 2004 and I remember that it started sleeting during the last mile of the race. It didn't really bother me at the time because I was at least wearing a long sleeve shirt but Mike had no shirt and was freezing at the end. I think it's going to be a nice day. The one interesting thing about this race is that they now have a Virtual Goodie Bag that they email to participants. You click on a link and there are coupons from vendors.
2. For some reason since signing up for the The North Face® Endurance Challenge Half Marathon last week I've been wanting to sign up for more half marathons. I'm not sure why that is...one that looked interesting to me was the Women’s Half Marathon Trail Run on September 10th. I wish I could do all my runs on trails. I really enjoy being outside and in nature and definitely prefer trail running to road running. Maybe that's why I wanted to sign up for this half marathon, because it would give me an excuse to drive further away to run on the trails. I'd like to get some new trail running shoes and have just begun looking online at different ones. Any recommendations?
3. I am loving the library right now. I went last night and got lots of different books for the boys. I got some beginning reader books for Charlie. It is so cool to see your child learning to read!! I love it. I love watching him sound out the words and be able to read a story. For myself I got more cook books. I was in a bit of a hurry while I was there and didn't have much time to look around, but today I went online to the Library's website and reserved some DVDs and books on CD for my commute. I figure why not learn something while I'm driving and maybe listening to something positive while I'm driving will keep me less stressed out in all that yucky traffic.

1. Enjoy your 10 miler...kick some butt!
2. Trails rule. I like to go with naked feet as possible on trails, but I like my Aesics trail shoes a little too much. They are totally stomped out, but I refuse to replace them.
3. I LOVE listening to words in the car!

I can't wait to get back on the trails. June will be the start of me trail season for 2011. Next year I will definitely do some trail races between the road races and Comrades Marathon training. Good luck with the race this weekend! Have fun!

Look for me & Dash on the side lines on Memorial Bridge and most likely around mile 9. I'll have my camera on the ready to get shots of the runners! Good luck, looks like you'll be lucking out with the weather!

Good luck on the 10 miler this week-end. Remembering something of similar when in 2005 I ran a 10 miler in t-shirt, through the coldest Highlands, because the warmer clothes were in my son's bag (he was taking pictures......ahhh what a nice man).
Sorry I have no experience in trail running.

HI Heather. Loved your comments on my giveaway! So cool about being in Germany and being inspired by your husband's running. I know the feeling of wanting to register for more half marathons or any races! I just registered for a 10k this weekend last minute. I'm so excited! Good luck to you. And I love the library! We always get a ton of books to last 2 or 3 weeks. :) And so fun to watch your kids start reading.

Good luck this weekend! The cherry blossoms are so pretty - I think this is the first year I've noticed them.

I hope you did great at the 10 miler! The awesome thing about that distance is it is really easy to figure out what % you have left. :)

I really need to find a library soon. I miss it!
